This week in ELA

Our current ELA unit covers vocabulary.  Everything from suffixes & prefixes and their meanings, to how to use context clues to determine unknown words.

This week, Mrs. Monsanto & Mrs. Ennis are doing a lot with learning prefixes & suffixes.  Today, we played a little word hunt game and got to meet our classmates in the process.  Once we made all the words we could, we dissected the words to figure out the difference between the literal meaning and the dictionary definition.

This Week In Math

Good morning!

This week in Math we learned how to find the area of a parallelogram (A=b x h) and worked on finding the area of triangles (A= base times height then divided by 2).  Some students are still struggling with how to find the area of triangles so I am including a good resource for the students that will explain how we come about finding the area of triangles.  They can then practice by working the problems provided.  They will get immediate feedback for their answers.

If your student is needing/wanting more practice please let me know as we will be moving on to finding the area of irregular shapes on Monday.  Have a great weekend!
